DVB102 Wk2 Passage of time

Image 1:
Roast Chicken
Tools:
1 HB pencil and mild eraser and finger rubbing work
Technique:
Stuck with basic sketching and then using my fingers to shade in the shadows of the roasted chicken
Process:
Using a photograph and rough outline to then fill in sketch
Reflection:
A Roast Chicken will be my passage of time and I started out very basic. With just light shading and pencil work. I  realized that I will need  to go darker and maybe add in more colour going forward

Image 2:
Roast Chicken earlier picking
Tools:
1 HB pencil lead, black water colour pencil and brown water colour pencil
Technique:
Layover first sketch to get scale right then add the black and brown for colour and depth. Started using cross section to get better shading
Process:
Layover first sketch then basic trace filling in the shadow with more detail.
Reflection:
Realizing my first sketch did not have the depth I wanted I tried adding cross section shading and a thicker outline to help the chicken come out out  of the page more.
Image 3:
Roast Chicken missing breasts
Tools:
1 HB pencil lead pencil outline, Black, brown, orange and yellow water colour pencil work
Technique:
Using the same layover technique then adding more shading and cross section with a added yellow and orange highlights
Process:
Layover on last sketch then adding darker outline and far greater shadow work
Reflection:
Third day of the Roast Chicken I added for orange and yellow to help highlight the white meat and am expanding on the cross section shading. The finer point outline I found help with the definition of the overall bird
Image 4:
Roast Chicken starting to show bone
Tools:
1 HB pencil lead pencil outline, Black, brown and orange water colour pencils
Technique:
Layover again then using photograph reference
Process:
Layover again to get location, less heavy cross section work and more reliance on finger shading to bring through the layer of bone underneath
Reflection:
Going back to the rubbing technique using my fingers seems to work best to bring out the layer of bone now exposed on the chicken carcase and adding a finer more defined pencil line really helped it off the page
Image 5:
Roast Chicken carcase
Tools:
1 HB pencil lead pencil outline, Black, brown, orange, yellow and purple water colour pencil
Technique:
Layover of previous sketch but adding more cross section and colour.
Process:
Layover again to get location but adding now purple to really define the carcase. Adding in again cross section shading to bring out the skin
Reflection:
The Final Imagine has more purple added and I've used more cross section and swirl shading which I think overall help show the decay really well
